CALVARY JUNIOR SCHOOLS
YEARS 5-6 (STAGE 3)
Achievement matters, but skills matter more, and at Calvary we are committed to equipping students with skills for life. This is an important time in our Years 5 and 6 student’s lives as we prepare them for Middle School. Through grouping and re grouping students based on data received, we allow students to work at a pace and a depth that suits their learning needs.
As with every stage, students have the option to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding via multiple means of expression. A strong pastoral care team ensures that every student is personally cared for and supported through this transitional period of life. There are opportunities for students to become leaders in different areas of the school. The leadership focus is on developing a sense of mission and the ability to empower others. There is a wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities available for our students including choir, dance, debating, public speaking, music and sport.
During this stage, students develop in responsibility and become critical thinkers and efficient collaborators. They are informed enough to choose to adopt a personal faith, and commitment to their personal growth as an exceptional learner and contributor to the world around them.
